And, in my little mind, Bran also = the Three-Eyed Raven, AND the Night’s King. No, really. Please wait for it, I’m currently writing it. A foundational post is here.
[Update:] Here is another post, this time at Movie Pilot, that takes speculation about Bran Stark to another level. More in a new post![/Update:]
In the previous post I mentioned my speculation re: the character of Bran Stark, son of Eddard Stark in the TV show ‘Game of Thrones.’ I found some very similar speculation at the Tower of the Hand article, Bran the Branded: The Night King’s Mark.
There’s even a remote possibility that Bran becomes the Brandons of the past, specifically, Brandon the Builder.
Durran would have none of it. A seventh castle he raised, most massive of all. Some said the children of the forest helped him build it, shaping the stones with magic; others claimed that a small boy told him what he must do, a boy who would grow to be Bran the Builder.
ACOK 32: Catelyn III
It was only with the building of the fifth tower, the first to be made entirely of stone, that the Hightower became a seat worthy of a great house. That tower, we are told, rose two hundred feet above the harbor. Some say it was designed by Brandon the Builder, whilst others name his son, another Brandon.
The World of Ice & Fire: The Reach
The first quote relates to the building of Storm’s End, while the second focus on Hightower in Oldtown, It’s a pretty farfetched grab on my part, but it’s worth noting that two different Brandons, each boys, have a part in the construction of famous landmarks. I could see Bran becoming involved in Westeros’ large history in some way or another.
The dateline on this article is May 24, 2016, of course. My post is May 26, 2016. All I can say is I came up with Bran = Bran the Builder on my own and upon wider scrutiny find that I am in good company.
That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.
Suppose that ‘time travel’ in Game of Thrones/ASOIAF is the kind where you can’t actually change anything (no free will) but merely fulfill what has already and always happened, but it seems as though our actions are willful rather than pre-destined?
My latest thing: Ned’s son Brandon Stark is Bran the Builder. He did these things in the past in response to events we see currently unfolding. From the GOT wiki Bran the Builder character entry (emphasis added):
“Bran the Builder was a legendary member of the First Men from the Age of Heroes, the founder of House Stark, and the first King in the North. Many famous structures are attributed to have been built under his direction, hence his nickname of “the Builder”, including Winterfell and most famously the Wall, which according to legend, he raised with the aid of giants. <...> According to legend, he advised Durran during the building of Storm’s End *when he was just a boy*. He’s also traditionally attributed to having granted the Gift to the Night’s Watch, though Maesters argue that it must have been a different King in the North also named Brandon.”
It’s has already happened, we have the incorrect perception that actions can affect them. “Are we are playing parts set in motion generations ago…?” (Tyrion paraphrase) In this scenario, yes…
Whadda ya think?
Ian has one more day at North Arvada Middle school. I’m shadowing him today at school he is currently in his ‘Advisement’ class which is kind of a free time thing. I’m in the office lying low, cruising under the radar. We have a session with his math teacher after school to make sure we’re caught up and ready to close out the year. This is the last of his seven classes we need to double-check on. Then he should be finished with Middle School and on to High School.
Does that send a chill down anyone else’s spine when you utter that phrase, “No, he is in High School now…”?
Not nearly as snappy as ‘Friday the 13th’ but ya run with what ya got. Wednesday past was the average last frost day for our area on the Front Range and both of my outdoor weather station sensors reported temps in excess of 90ºF. I think it is going to be a long, hot Summer. Some gardens are in, especially the Russians here in Little Minsk. But they always seem to have about a 4-week jump on the rest of us. I’m not going with any full season plants this year, just ‘micro greens’ and some herbs. I’ve had such bad luck with full season plants (>90 days to maturity). We have a growing season of about 125 days but my tomatoes don’t ripen and my corn ears don’t mature. But my basil from two years ago (none last year) kicked major butt. So, that’s the direction for this year…
What about your gardens?
Let’s try this some more. New day, new blog post. More to come.
Ian is beyond happy to have his 2016 Spring Break arrive. This will be interesting…
What the hell is going on with ‘Rape Culture’ and the so called Men’s Rights Movement? How much of the misogyny directed at Hillary Clinton and other powerful women by ‘Bernie Bros.’ or other ‘haters’ and detractors is anything other than generalized hatred of women?
Men, if we disagree, we must voice our condemnation.
Daily KOS hasn’t been rendering correctly in my version of Google Chrome for some time and I’ve been wondering why. Especially since the site rendered fine in Safari and Firefox. I finally figured out that I needed tell the HTTPS Everywhere* to leave Daily KOS alone. Voila! Site renders fine now. So, perhaps this will help you figure out why a certain site is misbehaving in your browser of choice,
