Neil Young Wins First-Ever Grammy Award [NY Times]
Well, that only took, what, 50 years? After a career spanning nearly a half-century as a solo artist and a member of groups like Buffalo Springfield and Crosby Stills Nash and Young, Neil Young won his first Grammy Award in a pre-telecast ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon. The award, for best art direction on a boxed or special limited edition package, was shared among Mr. Young and his art directors Gary Burden and Jenice Heo for the boxed set “Neil Young Archives Vol. 1 (1963-1972).” Upon his win, Mr. Young (who did not receive his first Grammy nomination until 1989, for the video for “This Note’s For You”) told the crowd: “Thanks a lot, everybody.” Mr. Young was also nominated for a Grammy in the best solo rock vocal category, but lost to Bruce Springsteen.
‘Best art direction…’? Really? Where is the companion lifetime achievement Grammy?
Thirty-seven years ago today, the Roe v. Wade decision legalized the right of American women to abortion.

I think I need to start posting again.
Ya think?
January 4, 2010 and here we are… I’m still fat, 54, and confused. I don’t have health care or a pension, I’m still jousting with the Texas Probate Courts, and I haven’t drawn an ‘honest paycheck’ since April of 2009.
WTF?!?
The ‘still fat’ is my fault, being 54 is non–negotiable, and confused is, well, my fault too. As an Anthropologist (hey, I even have credentials) and a Buddhist ( have some cred there too) the one thing I should count one is the reliable constancy of *CHANGE*. Shite. Flat–footed yet again. I feel like a Sauropod looking at the bright light in the sky 65 million years ago. Ooh, pretty lights. Oh, I’m dead.
I used to surf on this wave, GD–it.
Time to recalibrate…
